Are polymer temperature sensors influenced by thermal curing? Absolutely!
In our latest publication in Optics & Laser Technology we fabricated UV-cured polymer self-written waveguides. With this structure, printed on an SMF end-tip, we attained:
- Well-defined Fabry-Perot cavity that is linearly sensitive to temperature and humidity;
- Highly repeatable fabrication of SWW with low hysteresis and high resolution;
- Material inspection, spectral characterization and parameter calibration performed before and after thermal treatment.
🌟 We found that the power used for light curing combined with thermal annealing led to different temperature responses (as well as higher resolution).
